About Us

This blog is about mine and my husband's journey from newlyweds, to parents, and beyond....

We wrote these notes about each other and how we met on our wedding website, and I'd like to share them with you here:

About the bride

by Rick:

Sara has a personality that is larger than life and is undeniably magnetic.  To know her is to love her; I found that out the very first time I met her!  She is one of the most unselfish people I have been fortunate enough to meet.  Sara demonstrates that rare quality as a speech language pathologist for young children with autism and learning disabilities.  It amazes me how much she cares for those kids and how important each one is to her.  It also amazes me how much she cares and does for me.  Just to name a few of her best qualities, because I doubt The Knot has enough room for me to list them all, Sara is affectionate (sometimes overly!), an excellent cook,  funny, sarcastic, intelligent, and she always speaks her mind.  Being around her keeps me on my toes and my mind sharp.  Things are never boring when she is around, thats for sure!  I consider myself blessed that she has been in my life for over 10 years now, and will be for many more to come.

About the groom

by Sara:
Rick is warm, charming, hilarious, kind, and brilliant. He is so thoughtful of others, and always puts everyone else's happiness before his own, especially mine. He has a sparkle in his eyes and the best laugh. He can talk for hours reminiscing about the 'good ol' days' and loves making new memories with his friends and family. He is loving and cares about the future of our world, and I truly believe he has bigger things in store for all of us to witness... I am so blessed to have him in my life, he calms me down, helps me focus on what is important, and most of all, he lights up my life. I am so happy to begin this next chapter in our lives, together.

How we met

as remembered by Sara:
Rick and I met through mutual friends. My close friend, Randi, began dating his close friend, Kevin. Our groups merged and we all began hanging out together. I had gone away with my family to Hawaii for a week, and when I came back from my trip, I met Rick. I remember it like it was yesterday. We were all sitting around the pool in Randi's parents' backyard (a popular hangout for all of us in high school), and he was there: vibrant, outgoing, the life of the party. He lit up a room.
We instantly connected, and were fast friends. Prior to my returning, he had begun to date another one of my close girlfriends. Therefore, he was off-limits to me in the makeout department. The great thing was, with no possibility of dating allowed, we got to know each other as people, and I have deeply loved him ever since.
We were best friends for many years. Neither of us were ever single at the same time, so we just went through those years as buddies (with perhaps SOME flirting involved ;P). We drifted apart, as many friends do when each person is in a relationship with someone else, but our minds and our hearts were never far from each other. Finally, 7 years after we first met, we found ourselves both single at the same time. It was meant to be, our lives and our hearts were ready for each other, and we decided this is it, it is time. And the rest is history...
