12 Dates of Christmas.

I got this idea from another blog- but I loved it so, and considering we went out last night for our 5 year dating anniversary, I copied it!

Rick and I spend a lot of alone time together, as we have no children, so documenting 12 memorable dates from December 1st through Christmas shouldn't be hard. I also refuse to cook on the weekends, so that forces Rick to take me out to dinner, and I think that easily counts as a date.

Last night, Rick and I wanted to do something for our 5 years together, but we could not decide where to go. We wanted something of significance, but nothing too far away or extravagant. We thought about our first few months together, where we went, and what we did. When we started dating, he lived in Tempe, so we could not go to our old stomping grounds. The first time we hung out after years and years we went to the movies {James Bond, Casino Royale- a movie was a mistake because we just talked through the whole thing, catching up} and then out for reverse happy hour at T.G.I.Fridays. Classy, I know... but we didn't want to night to end and that's where we ended up. So, last night, Rick and I returned to the original spot and had dinner.

We reminisced about where we were at that point in our lives, and kept saying, "Did you think that night that __________ would happen over the next 5 years??" The answer was always a resounding NO- but we had hoped it would. Some of them were:
Did you ever think we would still be together 5 years later?
Did you ever think that we would have traveled Europe together with our best friends?
Did you ever think we would move and have a beautiful house in Tucson?
Did you ever think we would get married in Vegas?
Did you ever think we would be planning on having a baby soon? and many more...

{back in the day: 2006/07}

It was a wonderful trip down memory lane- we shared the same appetizer we had that night, and Rick even wore his navy hooded sweatshirt that he was wearing when I realized I loved him all those years ago. That particular day he was wearing that hoodie, jeans, white sneakers, and a backwards hat with his long hair curling out from under it, and I just thought, "Whoa, I am so in love with this boy". He has changed a little bit- he no longer as the same long hair, has a little more laugh lines on his face. But he still has those dimples, that sweatshirt, those white skate sneakers, those kind eyes. And oh boy- he is still adorable as ever. Date 1, I believe, was a success.
